Pittsburgh Riverhounds To Host First USL Match Broadcast on ESPN3

Friday's match between the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Orlando City B will be the first USL match broadcast on ESPN3's streaming platform.

PITTSBURGH (April 20, 2016) – The Pittsburgh Riverhounds will play host to the USL’s first-ever broadcasted match on ESPN’s live multi-screen sports network, ESPN3, in this week’s home contest against Orlando City B on April 22 at 7 p.m.

Announced by the league office earlier this week, the partnership between the league and ESPN will offer 20 exclusive, live and in HD USL Game of the Week broadcasts throughout the season. For the Hounds, this Friday’s matchup at Highmark Stadium will be the first of two straight broadcasted matches for Pittsburgh on ESPN3, as they will also land on the digital channel for an away contest against Louisville City FC on Wednesday, April 27.

Working the broadcast booth for Friday’s tilt will be award-winning soccer announcer Michael Watts and Juan Arango. The duo will have the call for all 20 of the 2016 USL Games of the Week showings on ESPN3.

Watts, who will serve as play-by-play announcer, has appeared on broadcasts for ESPN3, Fox Sports Go, YES Network, the NWSL, and beIN Sports, as well as several college sports networks.

Arango is a Miami-based journalist who has covered soccer and other sports for more than 10 years as a writer as well as a play-by-play announcer for various media outlets domestically and internationally, including Gol TV, ESPN International, TALKSport, BBC World Service, World Football Daily and also appeared on Radio Globo in Brazil.

For fans unable to access ESPN3, the live broadcast can be found on the USL’s YouTube channel and also at Riverhounds.com.

ESPN3 is ESPN’s 24/7 destination that delivers thousands of global sports events annually and is accessible online via WatchESPN.com. It is currently available to approximately 70 million homes at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider.
