Ducks lose Perron, Rakell, Lindholm and Andersson to Injury

On Friday, the Anaheim Ducks announced that David Perron, Richard Rakell, Hampus Lindholm, and Frederik Andersen would all miss some time due to injuries.

On Friday, the Anaheim Ducks announced that forwards David Perron and Richard Rakell, defenseman Hampus Lindholm, as well as goaltender Frederik Andersen would all miss some sort of time due to injuries.

David Perron will be out for about 4-6 weeks after having his shoulder separated when he was involved in a collision against the Winnipeg Jets on March 20th.  This injury will cost him the Ducks’ first round of playoff contention and possibly the second, if the Ducks end up making it that far.  Perron has 20 points in 28 games since joining the Ducks after being traded from the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier on.

Forward Rickard Rakell will be missing about a week of time after suffering an appendicitis.  This may end his regular season, but expect him to be back in time for the playoffs.  Rakell currently sits in fourth place on the team in points with a total of 43.

Defenseman Hampus Lindholm will be missing Friday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks, as he is battling an unknown illness.

And as for goaltender Freddie Andersen, he suffered a concussion at around the halfway point of the Ducks’ March 30th game against the Calgary Flames.  The team did not announce a timetable for his return but he is out indefinitely.

In relief, the Ducks have called up forward Chris Wagner and goaltender Anton Khudobin from the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim’s American Hockey League affiliate team to fill the vacant spots.
