Boone Jenner Signs Contract Extension

The Columbus Blue Jackets and Boone Jenner have agreed to a two-year contract extension that will see him stay with the organization through the 2017-18 season.

Jenner is currently having the best season of his NHL career with the Blue Jackets, and has been able to tally 22 goals, 13 assists for 35 points. The goal tally is his career high, the assists are tied for his career high and the point total is also a career high for Jenner. He also ranks second in the club with seven power play goals, tied for second in game-winning goals with two goals, has 174 shots on the season, and an impressive 167 hits, showing off his physical presence on the ice and stat sheet alike.

Columbus GM, Jarmo Kekalainen had this to say about Jenner, “Boone Jenner is a terrific young player, who works extremely hard at both ends of the ice and is just beginning to scratch the surface of what he can be as a National Hockey League player,” and continued to add “He has tremendous character and is an exemplary representative of our club on and off the ice.”  Great comments coming from the organization that are fully agreed upon with the fan base, as he is a fan-favorite of the Blue Jackets’ supporters.

The club stated that it would not be releasing details of the contract in the press release, but Blue Jackets’ Digital Content and Community Manager, Rob Mixer, tweeted this out:

Jenner, 22, was selected with the 37th overall pick (2nd round) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets. He is a native of Dorchester, Ontario and played his junior hockey in the OHL with the Oshawa Generals, where he tallied 111 goals and 135 assists in 227 career games for the Generals.
