Habs lose Nathan Beaulieu for 2-3 Weeks

The Montreal Canadiens have lost yet another player from their roster to injury, this time being defenseman Nathan Beaulieu.  Beaulieu suffered what was classified as a “lower-body injury” when he crashed into the goalpost Monday night against the Nashville Predators.  Beaulieu was driving to the net where he was then shoved from behind by Predator Colin Wilson.  His right knee seemed to take most of the blow and he was favoring it when skating off to the bench.

Beaulieu’s injury worsens things in Montreal.  He has become the third defenseman to succumb to injury, joining Tom Gilbert (Knee) and Jeff Petry (Sports hernia).  This now leaves the Habs with a corp of six men on the blue line, that including Victor Bartley, who was called up from the St. John’s IceCaps of the American Hockey League.  And with the Montreal Canadiens attempting to make a push for the playoffs, all of this news just is not good.  Remind you that they also lost David Desharnais (Broken foot), Brian Flynn (Lower-body), and Daniel Carr (Knee) all to injuries.  Head coach Michel Therrien has expressed that these next few weeks will be a test and proving ground for some of Montreal’s younger players.
