Saint Louis FC Sign Irvin Herrera

ST. LOUIS (February 18, 2016) – Saint Louis FC announced today the signing of El Salvadoran forward, Irvin Herrera, pending ITC approval. The second signing in 2016 for STLFC, Herrera has played for Santa Tecla FC in the Salvadoran Premiere Division since 2014 where he accumulated 25 goals in 45 appearances. Herrera helped the club win the Clausura 2015 championship, the Premiere Division Spring title, for the first time in its history.

One of Herrera’s 25 goals with Santa Tecla came when they visited Real Salt Lake in the CONCACAF Champions League on September 24, 2015, which ended in a 2-1 loss to the MLS club. In addition to Santa Tecla, Herrera has also accumulated 10 caps for the Salvadoran national team with his latest cap coming against Guatemala on October 13, 2015.

“We are excited to have Irvin join the club.” said Head Coach Dale Schilly. “He has a striker’s mentality and his interpretation of the position is in line with how Saint Louis FC will be defined this year. Fans can expect a hard working, attacking player who is passionate about scoring goals and winning.”

Saint Louis FC opened its camp yesterday and will travel to Charleston, South Carolina on February 20 for a preseason trip. The 2016 USL season will begin on March 26 in Sandy, Utah with the first home match scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on April 16.
