Report: Markieff Morris Traded to Washington Wizards

The Markieff Morris soap opera is Phoenix is finally over. The Phoenix Suns have traded Morris to the Washington Wizards.

The Markieff Morris soap opera is Phoenix is finally over. Morris has been traded to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Kris Humphries, DeJuan Blair, and a 2016 protected first round pick.

For the Suns, this is something that simply had to be done. Ever since they traded his twin brother Marcus, Markieff Morris has been unhappy in Phoenix. He would constantly get in arguments with the coaches and players. It was a bad situation for both parties. With Eric Bledsoe already being out for the season and the Suns not exceeding expectations before the injury, they have been lottery bound for a while. With a protected first round pick and their lottery pick, the Suns will be able to build off of their draft pick in this year’s upcoming draft. It is unsure what the Suns will do with Humphries and Blair at this point.

The Wizards are taking a gamble with Morris, but it could have a positive impact. They know that Morris can have issues and not be able to keep his cool, but that could simply be because he was in Phoenix. A fresh start might just be what he needs to re-establish his career. Morris is the farthest thing from a scrub. We have seen how he plays when he is happy, and he produces when needed. This was a huge upgrade for the Wizards at the power forward position. Whether they decide to start him or come off the bench, he will be able to provide an offensive spark.

In the end, this was a good move going forward for both teams. The Wizards needed an upgrade, and they were able to get just that. The Suns needed to prepare for the future, and they were able to do that with their first round pick they received in the trade.
