English Premier League Rebrands

The English Premier League, as of Tuesday morning, has presented its rebranding of the traditional lion logo that has long since been associated with the division.

The Premier League, in working with the agencies DesignStudio and Robin Brand Consultants, has chosen to get a fresh, new look to a piece of tradition. The new face of the league is both refreshing, and interestingly colorful, in comparison to the logo that was in place coming into the 2015/16 campaign.

“From next season we will move away from title sponsorship and the competition will be known simply as the Premier League, a decision which provided the opportunity to consider how we wanted to present ourselves as an organisation and competition,” said Richard Master, Premier League Managing Director.

DesignStudio CEO and Founder, Drew Stafford, also commented on the work being done by his agency and the Premier League. “Our aim was to create an identity that acknowledges everyone who plays a part in one of the most exciting leagues in the world,” Stafford stated. “And with a fresh, new take on the iconic Lion, we’ve created an identity that’s purpose-built for the demands of the modern world, while staying true to the Premier League’s history and heritage.”

It is a nice move from the Premier League, as the new logo(s) will appeal to a newer generation of fans. It is a classy, and simple, a way to show their intent of inclusion for all in enjoying the English game, and for that will be widely received as a positive change for the English game as a whole and the Premier League alike.
