It’s National Signing Day and five-star athlete Rashan Gary has made his college choice, committing to attend The University of Michigan.

The consensus number one ranked recruit in the country, Rashan Gary has provided the most suspense for this year’s National Signing Day.
Gary will come in highly decorated. He was recognized for his efforts this past season with the Bobby Dodd high school lineman of the year award from the Atlanta Touchdown Club and winning defensive MVP of the Under Armor All-American game in January.
Gary was a two-year starter at Paramus Catholic in Paramus, NJ but received his first college offer from Rutgers while still in eighth grade. Across his junior and senior years, Gary tallied 110 tackles and 27.5 sacks with four forced fumbles and also played basketball for the Paladins.
Gary showed an early dedication to his craft as a football player. After transferring to Paramus from his hometown of Scotch Plains, Gary made the 45 minute trip via a series of early moring wake up calls and long rides on the public bus.
Though his talents had him already becoming a hot commodity in New Jersey high school football, Gary sought to fine toon his game. He began working out with trainer Peter Kalaf. On first working with Gary, Kalaf stated “Rashan was very, very raw to the sport…he had not been coached on the type of technique he’s going to need to compete at the college level so he showed up, a really cold night in March, all bundled up in this hat, glasses and braces. He was like a little kid. He didn’t know how to get into a stance.”
With Gary’s announcement being the biggest news to come out of National Signing Day, those cold nights in New Jersey have paid.
