Caleb Kelly commits to Oklahoma

Linebacker Caleb Kelly has made his decision.  The highly regarded recruit will be headed to Oklahoma next season.

Caleb Kelly is another of the highly rated line backers in this class. The 6-3 215 pounder from Clovis West High School in Fresno, CA is listed as a four star outside linebacker by most of the recruiting services. 247Sports lists him as the #3 OLB in the country.

Kelly garnered 26 offers including some from several Pac 12 schools, and his hometown Fresno State. On a national scale he had offers from Notre Dame, Alabama, Texas, Florida State, TCU and Ohio State among others. The last visit he took before national signing day was to South Bend and that reportedly put them in the top two, but it has long been believed that Oklahoma was the team to beat, even though the Sooners have three other outside linebackers committed in this class, including to JUCO transfers.

In his senior season, Kelly had 115 total tackles, including 23 for loss. He also had 21 sacks and 3 forced fumbles. In December he was named the high school Butkus award winner as the nation’s best linebacker, beating out a few of the other top 20 high school players in the country. He was also USA Today 1st team All Defense.
