On December 30th, Tiger Woods will turn 40. If that doesn’t make you feel old, it probably makes you wonder about his future as a player. The journey to Tiger’s big 4-oh has been quite a ride, not only for Woods but also for the millions of fans he has strapped in and taken along with him. From the dizzying heights of success to the sensational scandals, Woods’ career has been anything but boring. Although in recent times, Woods’ career has been besmirched with personal scandals that professionally he has yet to recover from, Tiger has had a good run.

Now 321st in the world, Woods still holds the record for most weeks as world number one. At the tender age of twenty one, Woods became the youngest ever winner of the Masters in 1997. He also holds the record as the first athlete in history to make one billion dollars before taxes. No matter how you feel about him, Woods has revolutionised the game. Although he is ranked 321st in the world, Woods will pull in over fifty million dollars from sponsorship deals alone this year. The ‘’Tiger Effect’’ has boosted prize money from sixty five million dollars to over two hundred million dollars which affects all professional golfers. In recent interviews, Woods has lamented on turning in his clubs due to his personal life and continuous back injuries.
