Raptors Terrence Ross Suffers Injury to Left Hand

The Toronto Raptors have confirmed guard-forward Terrence Ross has suffered ligament damage in his left hand and is out indefinitely.

The Toronto Raptors have confirmed guard-forward Terrence Ross has suffered ligament damage in his left hand.

The injury occurred in a team workout on Monday. There is no timetable for Ross’s return from the injury, but the Raptors have said his situation will be updated when appropriate. The guard-forward is widely expected to miss around two weeks at least with the injury.

Ross had recently re-signed with the Raptors in a deal worth $33 million over three seasons — a deal that many a Raptor fan questioned given Ross’s stats this season and the last haven’t really jumped off the page. Ross has averaged 6.3 points and 1.7 rebounds in seven games.

Ross isn’t the only problem for the Raptors as the team will also be without forward DeMarre Carroll. Carroll is currently out day to day with plantar fasciitis on his right hell. All of a sudden the Raptors have a depth issue at the wing positions, so expect forward James Johnson to fill in and play the majority of minutes at small forward. Johnson played last night against the Knicks, playing 29 minutes in a two-point loss. Johnson is a reliable replacement for both Ross and Carroll.

Ross and Carroll are both good players and they will be key to the Raptors making the playoffs comfortably. The Raptors would ideally be aiming for a top three seed in the eastern conference. Ross and Carroll are key to getting there.
