Redskins WR DeSean Jackson not happy about lack of catches

Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson made his return to the field this past Sunday for the first time in six weeks to face the Patriots.

Washington Redskins (3-5) wide receiver DeSean Jackson made his return to the field this past Sunday for the first time in six weeks and just in time to face the undefeated New England Patriots (8-0). After the game he was not particularly happy with his fellow teammates.

The Patriots all but rolled over the Redskins, beating them 27-10, but what had Jackson in a foul mood was probably the fact he had only three catches for 15 yards on just six targets.

When the reporters asked Jackson about the numerous drops by his fellow Washington receivers, Jackson had this to say.

I’m not the one making the drops, I can’t really speak for that,” Jackson told The Washington Post’s Scott Allen. “As professional athletes, we get paid alot of money to go out there and perfect the job. That’s what we need to do. So, if we need to correct something in practice and do something better, that’s what we need to do as professionals.”

After being out six weeks, it appeared as if Jackson wanted a significant portion of the passes thrown his way. Unfortunately for him, Jackson was only targeted six times.

With the opportunities I get, I think I’ll be able to do a good job with that,” Jackson said. “I can’t call the plays for me, I can’t throw the ball to myself, so when the coaches and quarterback call my number, I’ll be there and doing what I need to do.”

With the Washington Redskins sitting at 3-5 and in third place in the NFC East, and currently one and a half games behind the division leaders, the New York Giants (5-4), the Redskins postseason chances are looking slimmer by the week. DeSean Jackson’s aggravated demeanor indicates tensions could be on the rise in the nation’s capital.
