At The Net: Road to the World Tour Finals

Last Word on Sports XTRA and LWOS Radio is proud to present their newest podcast, “At the Net” featuring Dave Gove and Ben Kerr.  In LWOS tradition we strive to bring you, our audience, the best in sports news, opinion, and analysis and do it all while also bringing on guests who are amongst the biggest names in their sport.  This show, featuring Beach Volleyball is no different, digging deep into the FIVB World Tour and all things Beach Volleyball.

The boys take a look at the latest FIVB results from the Sochi Open and Rio Open, as well as look ahead to the biggest event of the year, the World Tour Finals.   This season’s 10 best men’s teams, and 10 best women’s teams are already on their way to Fort Lauderdale for the biggest money tournament offered in beach volleyball.  They look at the format of the tournament and how it varies from the regular tour events.

Ben takes a look at the Canadian teams to watch in this tournament, the women’s entry of Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley as well as the men’s enty of Chaim Schalk and Ben Saxton and assesses their chances in Florida, while Dave focuses on the American Men’s team of Jake Gibb and Casey Patterson.  They also look at heavy favorites the Brazilian Men’s team of Alison Cerutti and Bruno Oscar Schmidt and the Brazilian Women’s team of Larissa and Talita.  Can anyone knock off those teams, and who has the best chance.

They also look ahead to the Rio Olympics and discuss what this tournament means for the biggest event of next season.

All this and more in this week’s edition of At the Net.
