UFC Fight Night: Jedrzejczyk vs Penne Results

The UFC ventured to Berlin for the second time on Saturday night, as an 8,000 plus crowd witnessed the first title defense of women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk. The show aired on UFC Fight Pass, marking the first time that a UFC title fight has featured on their outstanding online platform.

Joanna Jędrzejczyk def. Jessica Penne by TKO (strikes – 4:22 Rd3)
The main event saw the champion retain her title in dominant fashion. Over the course of nearly three rounds Jędrzejczyk outstruck Jessica Penne consistently, ramping up the punishment as the fight went on. Penne for her part showed no fear, had some success in the clinch and showed a great heart to stay in the fight as long as she did.

Tatsuya Kawajiri def. Dennis Siver by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Japanese hero Tatsuya Kawajiri got a much needed win over Dennis Siver in the co-main event. While Siver was able to keep the fight standing in the first frame, stopping all but one of Kawajiri’s takedowns. That was as good as it got for Siver who was outwrestled in rounds two and three, as Kawajiri was awarded the decision on all three judges scorecards.

Peter Sobotta def. Steven Kennedy by submission (rear-naked choke – 2:57 Rd1)
It took little time for Peter Sobotta to dispatch Australian late-replacement Steven Kennedy. Sobotta proved the aggressor on the feet before taking Kennedy’s back. One rear-naked choke later, the fight was over.

Nick Hein def. Lukasz Sajewski by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
Poland’s Lukasz Sajewski was making his UFC debut, but it was not a happy one as Nick Hein won all three rounds of their contest in Berlin. After a slow and tentative first round, Sajewski’s output slowed and Hein began to control the action on the feet. There was little doubt as the judges scorecards were announced.

Makwan Amirkhani def. Masio Fullen by submission (rear-naked choke – 1:41 Rd1)

Mairbek Taisumov def. Alan Patrick by TKO (head kick and punches – 1:30 Rd2)

Arnold Allen def. Alan Omer by submission (guillotine choke – 1:41 Rd3)

Noad Lahat def. Niklas Backstrom by majority decision (28-28, 29-28, 29-28)
