MLS Pick ‘Em 2015: Week 15 – Real Salt Lake v. Colorado Rapids

MLS Pick ‘Em 2015: Week 15 – Real Salt Lake v. Colorado Rapids

Moving on up! Okay, maybe I shouldn’t gloat. But it feels nice to not be on the bottom of the pile. Pay no attention to the fact that I picked incorrectly 11 times. Just like MLS, if you perform through the summer, you make the playoffs! Russ continues to pull further away, giving the number 2 spot more competition. Here’s the updated standings:

Player Points Correct Outcome Correct Score Incorrect
Russ McKenzie 15 9 3 6
Jeff Krause 10 8 1 7
Eric Walcott 9 9 0 6
Alec Rivera 7 5 1 10
Joseph Goldstein 6 4 1 11
Ned Joyce 5 3 1 12
John Richan 4 4 0 11
Michael Norton 3 3 0 12

This week we’ve got Real Salt Lake and Colorado Rapids. The Rocky Mountain Cup is less exciting with both teams struggling a lot this year. RSL is still trying to figure out life after Lagerway and Kries and have struggled on both sides of the ball. Colorado has defended well, but they can’t seem to figure out how to score goals in bunches. RSL can move into a playoff position with a win, so all is not lost for them yet. Let’s see what the experts think:

Draw (1-1) Neither Colorado nor RSL have found the answers they are searching for yet. This one ends in a well deserved draw for the struggling Rocky Mountain teams.

Draw (2-2) I THINK Real Salt Lake is the better squad, but Colorado has looked improved recently, despite not getting the results. RSL will be hurt by the abscence of Olave and Rimando, but Colorado won’t have enough to hold a the lead.

COL (1-0) Mastroeni’s men are cursed by conference, not necessarily by talent. RSL are a waning club with more question than answers, and the Rapids will capitalize early. #I’mWithNort.

Draw (1-1) RSL and Colorado are equally exciting this year, which means we should hear plenty of talk on the broadcast about Pablo Mastroeni’s facial hair.

@Russ_McKenzie

RSL (2-1) This is a clash of two of the smartest kids in the dumb class. RSL will edge out COL simply because they have just a touch more finishing ability.

RSL (3-0) Goals have been going in fast and furious in MLS lately, and RSL is going to take this one to the bank. COL is going to have an off week as RSL runs away with the 3 points.

COL (2-0) The Rapids haven’t been terrible lately, and that midfield is starting to live up to the billing. After years of overall stability in Utah, RSL head coach Jeff Cassar’s seat is shockingly the first in the league this year to get warm.

RSL (2-0) In a less than exciting game, RSL calmly disposes of a COL team that is desperately seeking an identity.
