MLS POWER RANKINGS 02 June 2015

RANK TEAM COMMENTS Last 6 Previous Change
Seattle Sounders FC The hottest team in MLS completed a second half comeback against the ailing Red Bulls. They stay up top for the second week in a row. 4-1-1 1 0
Sporting Kansas City Sporting haven’t lost in over a month and have been great at home and earning good results on the road.  3-0-3 5 3
DC United The results have been a mixed bag for DC for the last month, but they still find themselves with a 4-point lead at the top of the East.  2-2-2 4 1
New England Revolution The Revs are starting to stumble a bit, but they are still earning points. A gutsy comeback against LA should be celebrated, but they haven’t won in a month now. 1-1-4 2 -2
Vancouver Whitecaps FC The Whitecaps have managed to keep pace with Dallas in the West, but they need to find a way to beat top teams if they want to be considered contenders. 2-3-1 7 2
Toronto FC Toronto is starting to look lively. Tied for best PPG with Seattle in the last 6. Quietly impressive after some rough early goings.  4-1-1 9 3
FC Dallas Two straight losses see Dallas fall down the list. Much like some of the other early season contenders (I’m looking at you RBNY), Dallas is starting to struggle. With two tough games ahead, FCD is going to have to find its rhythm again they want to stay on top of the West. 2-2-2 3 -4
Columbus Crew SC Two weeks in a row withh Columbus dropping points late. Not sure what is happening with the Crew, but they need to sort it out and start winning games where they lead.  2-2-2 6 -2
San Jose Earthquakes A loss to TFC hurts an otherwise solid month of soccer. With Seattle, Dallas, LA and Houston looming, the Earthquakes will get a chance to stake their claim or reassess.  2-1-3 10 1
Red Bull New York Oh boy, it’s going to be a long year. After starting off with a 7-game undefeated streak, the Red Bulls are now the second worst PPG team in the league over the last 6 games. Marsch is surely missing those early spring games now.  1-3-2 8 -2
Portland Timbers The Timbers have found their form. Only 3 teams better over the last 6 games in PPG. Now that they are healthy, it is no surprise that they are starting to go on a roll. Tough string of games ahead could change all that, but for now, celebrate in the PNW. 3-2-1 17 6
Chicago Fire Chicago put a hurtin’ on Montreal, but it was only their second win since April 24th. In the middle you have a draw to hate, and a draw to love. Not sure what to make of them yet.  2-2-2 18 6
Houston Dynamo Dynamo have the second worst PPG total over the season in the West. Giles Barnes and Will Bruin have looked good at times, but their defense has been manic.  2-3-1 11 -2
LA Galaxy Dropping points at New England stings, but finding results must be pleasing for a team that is starting to overcome their early season sputter. Keane’s return has been a boost, but LA needs to start winning games if they want to see the playoffs.  2-2-2 15 1
Real Salt Lake After an extended run as one of the elite, RSL looks to now be coming back to Earth. Losing 3 of their last 4 is new territory for the former MLS Cup Champions. Paging Lagerway and Kreis?  2-3-1 13 -2
Philadelphia Union  The win streak may have come to an end just as it was starting, but Philadelphia still has a lot of questions to answer. A loss to DC isn’t the end of the world, but blowing a lead is never a good sign.  2-4-1 14 -2
Montreal Impact  Montreal has a lot of catching up to do. While things seemed to be going well with wins over Dallas and RSL, the Fire demoralized Montreal with a thorough performance. With 6 games this month, Montreal fans are going to have to hold on tight and hope for the best.  2-3-1 12 -5
Colorado Rapids  Colorado is still trying to find its identity. Mastroeni is still learning to be a head coach with a host of young players. Either this experiment ends with upheaval or a strong young team.  1-2-3 16 -2
Orlando City SC OCFC’s draw against Columbus was entertaining, but defensive issues will keep them from making the playoffs. If nothing else, Orlando has been fun to watch this year.  1-2-3 19 0
New York City FC  Same old story with the expansion team. In two weeks, NYCFC will have successfully gone 3 months without a win. Right now, there are no indications they won’t achieve that mark.  0-4-2 20 0
