LWOS Week 9 Two-Start Pitchers To Stream

Clay Buchholz, SP, Boston Red Sox, Yahoo! Availability 60%

Probable Starts: 6/1 vs Minnesota; 6/6 vs. Oakland

Clay Buchholz has been phenomenal of late, going atleast 7 innings while allowing no more than 2 earned runs in each of his last 3 starts. Over the past month, Buchholz has registered a 3.31 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP, both being very impressive marks. This week he faces an inconsistent offense in the Twins and an offense really struggling in the A’s. Oakland has scored the 12th fewest runs in May and lack the power bat in their lineup. Also, Buchholz just faced the Twins on May 26th and held them to 2 runs over 7.1 innings of work. Pickup Clay Buchholz this week and start him with confidence.

Mike Fiers, SP, Milwaukee Brewers, Yahoo! Availability 44%

Probable Starts: 6/2 @ St. Louis; 6/7 @ Minnesota

Mike Fiers struggled to start the season but has quietly put together a solid month of May. In May, Fiers went 1-0 with a 3.82 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 33 IP. He has allowed two runs or less in 4 straight starts, and although he usually doesn’t pitch deep into games, his strikeout potential makes him worthy to start in fantasy. This week Fiers will face the Cardinals and Twins. In Fier’s two starts against STL earlier this year, he went 0-1 with a 2.79 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 9.2 innings. And the Twins, as I mentioned with Clay Buchholz, have struggled against power right handed pitchers, as they have scored the 2nd fewest runs against right handers this season. Pickup Mike Fiers this week and expect high strikeout numbers.

Kyle Hendricks, SP, Chicago Cubs, Yahoo! Availability 85%

Probable Starts: 6/2 @ Miami; 6/7 @ Washington

Kyle Hendricks has been surprisingly great over his last few starts, allowing 1 run or less in 3 of his last 4 starts and pitching to a 0.56 ERA over the past two weeks. This includes a complete game shutout vs the Padres where he struck out seven batters without allowing a walk. This week Hendricks will face the Marlins and Nationals. Both teams have been hit with the injury bug and have struggled offensively. In fact, over the last 7 days, the Nationals have scored the 3rd fewest runs in the MLB while the Marlins have scored the 8th fewest. Also noteworthy is that Hendricks pitched against the Nationals on May 26th and went 7 innings allowing only 1 run. Pickup Kyle Hendricks while he is hot and start him both starts this week.
