Match Day Preview 6: Saint Louis FC Shark Week

After a come-from-behind victory on the road in Oklahoma City, Saint Louis FC begin a four game home stand with the struggling Wilmington Hammerheads. See below for everything you need to know about Soccer Shark Week in St. Louis.

Match Up: Saint Louis FC (2-2-1, 7 Pts.) vs. Wilmington Hammerheads FC (1-3-2, 5 Pts.)

Date: Saturday, May 9 7:30 PM CST

Venue: World Wide Technology Soccer Park; Fenton, MO

LAST TIME OUT: Saint Louis FC (2-2-1) is playing in its first game in two weeks after enjoying its bye week last weekend. In its previous match on April 25, STL FC captured a 2-1 comeback victory on the road against Oklahoma Energy FC at Taft Stadium. After an early OKC goal from Chuy Sanchez, STL FC rallied with goals from Jamiel Hardware and Mike Ambersley. STL FC will be looking for its first home win on Saturday.

THE OPPONENT: Wilmington Hammerheads FC (1-3-2) enters the match on a two-game winless streak. In their last match, the Hammerheads suffered a 4-0 loss at home against Harrisburg City Islanders last weekend.

THE SERIES: This Saturday’s match is the first of two meetings between STL FC and the Wilmington Hammerheads. The two sides will face each other again on July 1 at Legion Stadium in Wilmington, N.C.

KICKING OFF HOMESTAND: Tonight’s match is the first game of a four-game homestand for STL FC. Saint Louis will also face Toronto (May 14), Louisville (May 24), and will host its first-ever U.S. Open Cup match on May 20.

LYNCH OUT: Forward Jermie Lynch will be serving the first game of a two-game suspension on Saturday after receiving a straight red card in the match against Oklahoma City on April 25.
