Waiver Wire Report: Adeiny Hechavarria

This edition of the Waiver Wire Report will be a different one. We will only focus on one player that has been on fire both defensively and offensively. His name is Adeiny Hechavarria.

Starting the year, Hechavarria was hitting the way he was expected to by many experts, with a low AVG. in the 8th hole of the Marlins’ lineup.

But something else happened.

In the last 7 days he has 10 hits in 20 AB with 5 RBI. In the last 14 days he has 20 hits in 46 AB with 9 RBI and 1 HR. What did Hechavarria change? How did he manage to get out of the early season slump?

Apparently, he didn’t change anything.

“It wasn’t a good start for myself and the team at home,” Hechavarria said. “But I didn’t change anything. I feel good playing right now. It was just a bad start in Miami.” (Per Miami Herald.)

Yesterday’s game vs. the Nationals Hechavarria kept it going, hitting a three-run blast. It is his second game with 3 RBI in the last three games. He currently has 15 R and 13 RBI in 17 games.

The most stunning thing for me is that few are jumping for Hechavarria. According to Yahoo! Sports only 16% of fantasy owners have added him, giving you an evident opportunity to catch hold of him.

Last year Hechavarria batted for a .276 /  .308 / .356 slash line, so you can rely on him for a solid BA.
