League Two Preview: April 11

With games running out in League Two, there is another full set of fixtures this Saturday, with sides at both ends of the table searching for those last few points helping them to achieve their objectives. Here is your League Two Preview.

Luton Town vs Burton Albion 

League leaders Burton travel to face a Luton side who won their first game in eight last weekend. Burton are one point ahead of Shrewsbury, but have an eleven point advantage over the sides in the playoffs. Luton have slipped out of the playoffs in recent weeks, so they’ll be looking to regain a top seven spot this weekend.

Shrewsbury Town vs Exeter City 

This weekend at New Meadow, 2nd placed Shrewsbury host the in form Exeter side who sit 10th before kick-off. Shrewsbury have won five games in succession, and are ten points clear of the play-off chasers, but Exeter have failed to lose in eight games, winning their last three on the road, and sit just one point off a play-off place.

Wycombe Wanderers vs Cheltenham Town 

Wycombe will be looking to put back to back defeats behind them when they host bottom club Cheltenham at Adams Park. In the Chairboys last meeting at home, they lost 3-2 to Oxford, followed by Mondays defeat at Burton, and are now just four points clear of the play-off places. As for Cheltenham, they’ve failed to win in their last eight, losing four in succession, and are three points from safety.

Newport County vs Bury

Two sides with play-off ambitions meet at Rodney Parade when Newport host Bury. Newport are unbeaten in three games at home, and despite winning just twice in their last six games, the Exiles remain in the playoffs by one point. As for Bury, they suffered their first defeat in eight last time out when they lost at home to Morecambe, but the Shakers remain the leaders in the playoffs in 4th spot.

Southend United vs Tranmere Rovers 

Southend will be looking to keep the pressure on Bury when relegation threatened Tranmere travel to Roots Hall. The Shrimpers are unbeaten in three, and are unbeaten in four home games. As for Tranmere, they’re one point from safety in 23rd, but haven’t won in four games, winning just once in their last ten games.

Stevenage vs Northampton Town 

Stevenage have moved back into the playoffs following an away day win against bottom club Cheltenham. The Boro are unbeaten in three games, losing just once in their last ten games, and sit in 6th. As for Cobblers, their form has been rather inconsistent of late, and are currently without an away win in three attempts, and are now five points off the playoffs.

Plymouth Argyle vs Mansfield Town 

Following their defeat at Portsmouth, Plymouth have dropped out of the playoffs, but host a Mansfield side who have lost four games on the bounce. The Pilgrims will be looking to regain a top seven spot and extend their unbeaten run at Home Park to four games. Mansfield have failed to win in three attempts on the road, and sit in 20th, six points from safety.

Morecambe vs Portsmouth 

A mid-table clash takes place at the Globe Arena where Morcambe host Portsmouth. Morcambe are currently on a four game unbeaten run, but at the same time, have failed to win at home in five attempts. As for Pompey, they beat Plymouth last time out, but haven’t won on the road in four games.

A.F.C Wimbledon vs Oxford United 

Wimbledon welcome Oxford United to Kingsmeadow this Saturday, with the hosts unbeaten in seven games at home. Oxford have gone three games unbeaten however, with the Dons current form at three games without a win. Wimbledon are 13th, with the U’s in 16th.

Carlisle United vs Dagenham and Redbridge 

Carlisle will need to defend strongly when they face a Dagenham side who scorer four in their last outing. The Cumbrians are without a win in four games and are only three points clear of the drop, whilst the Daggers seem to win or lose recently, having five defeats and five victories in their last ten games.

Cambridge United vs Accrington Stanley 

Cambridge welcome Accrington to Abbey Stadium this Saturday with both sides recording an important win last time out. Cambridge won their first game in eight as they overcome play-off hopefuls Northampton, whilst Stanley won at home against struggling Carlisle, just their second win in ten. Stanley are without a win on the road in four attempts, whilst the U’s have failed to win at home in eight games.

York City vs Hartlepool United 

Two sides at the wrong end of the table but have found some form of late meet at Bootham Crescent when York host Hartlepool. York are unbeaten in four games following a draw with Oxford last time out, whilst Hartlepool suffered their first defeat in six on Monday, having previously drawn one and winning the other four in succession. The Pools are 22nd, one point from safety, whilst the Minstermen are 19th, six points clear of the drop.
