Sports. Honestly. Since 2011

Summer Bradshaw takes on Brenda Rodriguez on April 25th 2015

Looks like summer is coming early when Summer Bradshaw takes on Brenda Rodriguez on April 25th 2015 in Sparta Combat League’s Fight For The Troops at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, CO.  I recently was able to get Summer to slow down enough to answer a few questions for us.

Stephanie Schneider: How old were you when you started training in tae kwon do?

Summer Bradshaw: I started with a brief 3 month introduction when I was ten yrs. old. I went back when I was 16 to get serious. I paid for my own classes and walked to CHS Martial Arts every day.

SS: Do you train in any other particular martial art forms?

SB: In this field you better train everything, but I do love my stand up.

SS: What originally got you into MMA?

SB: I trained Tae Kwon Do, but I really needed to switch to a no ranking system because of many mental blocks I was dealing with.

SS: Where do you train in Colorado and how often do you train?

SB: Usually 5 days a week and everywhere around town, but mainly I have a personal coach for stand up Coach Juan Gonzalez.  I train over at Warriors for no GI training, I condition train at The Arena. I have to have my boot camp, I get that at S.W.E.A.T Ltd.

SS: Do you have any MMA/combat inspirations?

SB: Anderson Silva! I love to watch Connor McGregor right now though WOW that guy!

SS “What do you like most about your MMA career?

SB: The discipline more than anything, how it helps me to discipline myself to do things I never imagined I could do.

SS: How does being a mother play into your decisions concerning your MMA career?

SB: Family will always come first. This allows me to show them how to balance a life and chase still chase their dreams. It doesn’t matter what you are doing you can always go after your dreams, that is what I want to show my girls in this life.

SS: What is the best advice you have been given since deciding to become a Mixed Martial Artist?

SB: RELAX!

SS: How old are your daughters and what do your girls think of mommy being a professional Butt Kicker?

SB: I have an 8 & 9 yr. old. Hold on let me ask them! They like when I win because we get to celebrate. Honestly though they brag to other kids that their mom can beat up there dad’s. We have since talked about what you talk about and what you don’t talk about!

SS: Congratulations on your latest victory over Mariah Prussia, what and who is next for you?

SB: Next up is Brenda Rodriguez April 25th at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland CO.

Thank you so much for the wishes!  I need to thank my family for being beside me through this, FRESH START ENTERTAINMENT, THE ARENA, Mac at PHENIX THERAPY, Ben at WARRIORS FITNESS, 9ROUND, Aylin at BLUPRINT YOGA, XIONX, SPORTS FOOD electrolyte strips, UNIQUE KENNELS, STNTHA BAG, IRON JAW, SPARTA COMBAT LEAGUE for the next couple fight opportunities.
