FANTASY PROFILE: Khris Davis, OF, Milwaukee Brewers

LWOS Ranking 60, Captain’s Value:$ 6.38

Khris Davis burst onto the scene in 2013, hitting .279 with 11 HR in 153 PA. While his BABIP was a modest .293, his HR/FB was an absurd 28.9%. Despite the high risk of his power regressing from these totals, this performance was enough for the Milwaukee Brewers to trade Norichika Aoki for the purpose of Davis more playing time.

Even though there was regression in his HR/FB rate last season, his power was still an asset to fantasy owners as he hit 22 HR. However, Davis was far from the ideal fantasy player as he only stole a few bases and he only hit .244. While his K% held steady at 22.2%, he was less selective at the plate last year as evidenced by a decrease in BB% rate which went from 7.2% to 5.8%.

One concerning thing about this trend is that this could indicate that opposing pitchers have figured out Davis which could result in some struggles at the plate. However, if you find yourself towards the end of the draft and are looking for someone to fill out your roster and looking for a source of 20+HR power, Davis is someone that you should still take into consideration.
