There have long been rumors that the Hamilton Bulldogs would be relocating to Laval, Quebec. Earlier this year it has been suggested that Bulldogs owner Michael Andaleur was attempting to buy the Erie Otters to replace the team with an OHL franchise. Andaleur and Otters owner Sherrie Bassin have denied those reports.
This morning a Winnipeg newspaper published a report indicating that the Hamilton Bulldogs would be moving to St. John’s, Newfoundland. Hours after that report was published, the team has submitted the following press release by the Hamilton Bulldogs on Relocation rumours. Aaron Gogishvili of the Bulldogs has forwarded us this press release.
STATEMENT FROM HAMILTON BULLDOGS REGARDING REPORTS OF RELOCATION
HAMILTON, ONT. – The Hamilton Bulldogs issued the following statement today in regards to the reports of the relocation of the team:
“We are aware of the reports but at this point nothing is official. We don’t want to add to the speculation with unconfirmed and inaccurate information. What we can tell you is that Michael Andlauer has been committed to our community, the fans and hockey in the city of Hamilton for over a decade and that will not change moving forward. We have no further comment at this time.”
