Saint Louis FC Adds James Hardware and Sam Fink

Saint Louis Football Club has made a pair of signings ahead of their home friendly next Friday, March 13. The club welcomes Jamiel Hardware and Sam Fink, bringing the roster to 14 players. USL-Pro is expanding the roster size from 26 to 30 in 2015, but General Manager Jeremy Alumbaugh said in an interview with Last Word Soccer Club Radio that they club would go into the regular season at or around 26 players.

Hardware (midfielder, 22, 5′ 8”) is a Jamaican international with two years of USL experience. He joined the Harrisburg City Islanders in 2013, making 44 appearances, scoring four goals. The midfielder also spent time in Sweden with Motala AIF and USL PDL side Ventura County Fusion. He scored two goals in 11 caps with the Fusion in 2012.

“Jamiel is very gifted on the ball, athletic, and good going forward. He has shown the ability to create and score goals, and is also willing to work to get the ball back. There are some quality guys in the team fighting for a similar role. I’m anxious to see how Jamiel deals with the competition,” said Head Coach Dale Schilly.

Fink (defender, 21, 6′ 3″) is an Edwardsvill, IL native. He played four years at Wake Forest University, graduating in 2014. He recorded 74 caps with the Demon Decons, including 54 starts. Fink has ties to the area. He played soccer while at Edwardville High School, and leading the Tigers to three Illinois State Final Fours from 2008-2010.

“Sam and I have worked together since he was a youth player,” said Schilly. “He had a very good high school career, a very good Academy career, and was a cornerstone for Wake Forest for four years. His size and mobility, coupled with his distribution from the center back position, give him some very important qualities to having a successful professional career.”

STL FC kick off their inaugural season on March 28. They play their home opener on April 11 against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
