FANTASY PROFILE: DANNY SANTANA, SS, MINNESOTA TWINS

LWOS Ranking 14, Captains’ Value: $9.72

Danny Santana exceeded all expectations as a rookie in 2014 scoring 70 R, hitting .319 with 41 extra-base hits and 20 SB  in just 101 games. With a full season’s worth of at-bats, the 24-year-old should offer impressive production in both SB and R. The switch-hitter could be in for a correction on his AVG, OBP and OPS after finishing his rookie season with a BABIP (.405) which was nearly 100 points higher than the league average. That being said, I am a little more optimistic in my expectations for him in 2015 than most of the experts. In looking at his minor league stats, from 2011 to 2013 he increased both his average and on-base percentage year over year, while also increasing his games played and at-bats. In 2013 at AA, he played in 131 games and hit .297 with a .333 OBP. Also, Santana is not known for his power. He had 7 HRs in 430 ABs last year and he only hit 27 HRs in 2,271 ABs in the minors.
