We have a nice ten game slate tonight on FanDuel with many options throughout. You do not want to miss out on the 1-2 plays that could make the difference. Some of these plays you may be reading and thinking “well duh”, but others are going to be contrarian plays. I always like to throw a few plays in these articles that people may not be thinking of. When these plays pay off, you have a huge edge over the field. I’m not saying every night you should be hunting for plays that most people will be off of, but always keep an eye out for plays like this. In college fantasy basketball, the low score and the high score are usually not too far away from each other in 50/50s and especially in 3,5,10,20 team leagues. Picking players that perform highly that you know most people will not be on is vital to winning long term in this game. Enough of me rambling my nonsense, and onto today’s plays.

Fantasy CBB Plays 2-17-15

Top Plays

Jerian Grant -Guard Notre Dame. Price 9400

A lot of people will be on Grant today, and why shouldn’t they be? Notre Dame has the highest total at home of the night, and Grant is their best player. At home, Grant is extremely consistent and will score at will tonight against Wake Forest. He will be highly owned, but with so many cheaper guard options, I don’t feel everyone will be on Grant tonight, but you should be!

Jordan Mickey -Forward LSU. Price 10500

Yikes, did Mickey’s price get high! I personally think this is a good thing though. I expect people to look elsewhere at this tag seeing as LSU is a road underdog, but don’t fall prey to this mindset. Mickey will need 41 fantasy points tonight to achieve value. He has gotten this in three of his last five, and one of the games he didn’t was against Kentucky, and the other he missed value by one point that night. His floor is too high to leave out and if you fade Grant do yourself a favor and roster Mickey.

Cinmeon Bowers -Forward Auburn. Price 8400

Bowers has not looked like himself recently, but his last two match-ups were not ideal for him. Tonight is a different story. Throw in the recent price reduction, and this make Bowers and elite play at a not so sexy forward position tonight. Alabama is by no means big inside and Bowers is an elite rebounder who will have a strong bounce back game tonight after a few duds.

Mid-Tier Plays

Charles Mann -Guard Georgia. Price 6200

JJ Frazier is out for tonight and that leaves extra minutes, and shots to go around. This will fall into Mann’s hands, and even Kenny Gaines. I like Mann more though due to the lower price and the fact that he fills up all over the box score. With his floor so close to what value is for his price, Mann has to be considered tonight.

Alex Caruso -Guard Texas A&M. Price 7600

Caruso has been playing great recently and at home vs LSU, he could be in for another great performance. The best part about Caruso is how he completely fills the stat sheet. Night after night he continues to rebound well, leads his team in assists, pilfer steals, and oh ya score too! If Caruso is aggressive tonight, he certainly exceeds value the only issue is there are other scorers on this team and Caruso is not often tasked with shooting much. Regardless, he will fill up in other areas.

Jalen Jones -Guard Texas A&M Price 6900

Jalen Jones finally had the good game people have been waiting for after a stretch of 5-6 duds. Jones torched LSU the last time out and this will drive up his percentage owned numbers tonight. I personally like Jones, but do not love him tonight. I feel the price is alright, but do not look at his last game vs LSU and think he is a must play tonight in a rematch. His numbers were padded by blocks and steals and he typically doesn’t fill up those categories. A&M has lots of options offensively, so Jones could certainly play 2nd, 3rd or even 4th fiddle on any given night. I like Jones tonight, if you can fit him but do not go out of your way to.

Low-Tier Plays

Ruben Guerrero -Forward South Florida. Price 5000

South Florida is favored tonight and this is not a normal occurrence. With a decent projected total of 64 points, someone must be worth owning. That person is Ruben Guerrero. Houston is nothing to look at inside, and while USF isn’t either, Guerrero rebounds well and blocks a decent amount of shots. He has been getting good run recently and is a great price at 5K.

L.J. Peak -Forward Georgetown. Price 4700

Peak is not a great player nor his he flashy, but this price has him certainly in place. Georgetown is almost a double digit favorite and I’m finding it hard to roster Smith-Rivera. Price for price Peak may be the best play in this game. Rasheed Jordan’s price drop isn’t bad either, but I would give the notch to Peak. The minutes will be there along with easy buckets. Strictly value here.

Retin Obasohan -Guard Alabama. Price 4700

Returning from injury in a big way on Saturday, payed off for people who roll Obasohan out. He has a good chance to enter the starting lineup tonight and Auburn’s pace will pickup Alabama leading to more possessions than usual for the Crimson Tide. Obasohan will get his shots up, will dish some assists and is also a good pilfer. Enjoy his price while Tarrant is out.
