The Edmonton Oilers have placed left wing Taylor Hall on injured reserve, and he could be out 4-6 weeks with an ankle injury suffered February 2nd.

The Edmonton Oilers have placed left wing Taylor Hall on injured reserve, and he could be out 4-6 weeks.

TSN’s Bob McKenzie is reporting that the “bone bruise” of his ankle, suffered by Hall on February 2nd in San Jose, is now seen as a fracture and he will need time on the shelf.  He has already missed three games with the injury.

Hall has 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points in 42 games this season.  He has played five seaqsons with Edmonton, picking up 103 goals, 152 assists for 255 points in 288 games. He was selected by the Oilers, first overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

The Oilers also placed right wing Benoit Pouliot on injured reserve Tuesday. The 28-year-old has 11 goals and 6 assists for 17 points in 33 games so far this season. Pouliot broke his foot earlier in the season, and apparently has re-aggravated that injury, and has also missed the Oilers last three games.

The Oilers have called up forward Ryan Hamilton and goalie Richard Bachman from the AHL’s Oklahoma City Barons to fill the spots on their roster.  Goaltender Ben Scrivens is also day-to-day with a hamstring injury suffered during last night’s game.
