UCLA Lands #1 High School Running Back, SoSo Jamabo

UCLA has landed its second big recruit of the day, as five-star running back SoSo Jamabo from Plano, Texas announced his decision to move to Westwood. Jamabo did the traditional hats on the table for the schools he was considering, but when he put them out on the table, they were both UCLA hats, making his decision clear. He was the #28 prospect on ESPN’s top 300.

The 6-2, 206-pound running back had 19 scholarship offers, but in recent weeks had narrowed his choices down to Texas and UCLA. Earlier this week, it leaked on Texas recruiting web sites that Jamabo had already informed Longhorns’ coach Charlie Strong that he had eliminated Texas from his choices. Jamabo took to Twitter to say he had not said anything to anyone, but that he was upset that local reporters were getting sources inside the Texas football program to talk.

Jamabo is considered a dual-purpose running back. He ran for more than 1,900 yards and 38 touchdowns in his senior season and he also had another 200 yards and three touchdowns receiving.

The Bruins return All-Conference running back Paul Perkins next season, so Jamabo will not be expected to carry a heavy load for the offense right away.
