Fantasy Profile: Albert Pujols, 1B, Los Angeles Angels
LWOS 1B Ranking 8, Captains Value $15.65
It is sad to see the greats get old. Albert was a fantasy beast for many years. He had a healthy year last year and put up good numbers 89/28/105/5/.272. That is a career year for many players. Now some look down on it. You may be able to get Albert Pujols at a value, as many people have the lost season of 2013 fresh in their minds. He is still in a good lineup and should be able to keep the RBI numbers up with the uber fantasy player Trout hitting in front of him.
Now for the buyer beware portion. Albert has seen his some very important numbers start to slip. Walk rate was a career worse 6.9% last year. His K rate is still great but has creeped over the 10% mark 4 out of last five years. His BaBip has steadily dropped from .346 to .263 in 2013 and slightly back up to .270 last year. These all point to the fact that his .300 BA days may be in the past and his .272 BA last year should be what you expect from him moving forward.
