Fantasy Profile: Matt Wieters, C, Baltimore Orioles

Pos. Rank 10, Captains Value $7.45

In 2014, Wieters appeared to be on the cusp of a breakout season as he hit .308 with 5 HR in 26 Games as his season ended early due to an elbow injury.

The primary question revolving around Wieters is whether his elbow will be recovered enough to return to the breakout form he displayed in early 2014. Even taking injuries out of the equation, I’m not sure how much of his .308 batting average from 2014 can easily be replicated. His BABIP of .329 was 44 points above his career total.

Prior to 2014, he had established himself as a solid power hitter at the Catcher position but with the price of a lower batting average. This appears to be the most likely scenario for 2015.
