FANTASY PROFILE: YAN GOMES,C, CLEVELAND INDIANS

After posting pretty solid numbers in a little over half of a season’s worth of games in his first year in Cleveland, Yan Gomes was a popular sleeper pick coming into 2014. Even after living up to the hype by posting top-5 catcher numbers in 2014, he still remains under the radar. The lone knock on him is that he became a bit more aggressive in 2014, raising his walk rate and lowering his strikeout rate. This has led some to believe that the 21 homers in 2014 were a fluke. His HR and FB average distance (292.1 feet) and line drive rate (24%) suggest they weren’t.
Gomes is entering the prime of his career and should put up similar numbers to his past season-and-a-half. The Indians are all in on him, and you should follow suit.
