Per several sources, the Dallas Cowboys have resigned head coach Jason Garrett and will announce it in the coming hours.

After winning the NFC East and defeating the Detroit Lions on Wild Card weekend, before narrowly losing to the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round on Sunday, Garrett had become a free agent finishing the final year of his original four-year contract. Initially it was unclear if Garrett would be willing to stay on with the Cowboys, as owner Jerry Jones had essentially made it an all or nothing year for the coaching staff when he did not extend their contracts during the summer.
Garrett finished this season 12-4 taking the Cowboys to the playoffs for the first time in years and had gone 8-8 in his previous 3 years as head coach. It is believed that both offensive and defensive coordinators will also remain with the team and indications are that defensive co-ordinator Rod Marinelli’s contract is almost finalised.

Garrett is expected to sing a 5 year $30 million contract improving on his $5 million a year 4 year contract he received after replacing the fired Wade Phillips mid-season in 2010.
Initial speculation of a deal being done came when Dallas and the NFL announced that the coaching staff would be participating in the Pro Bowl later this month.
