Iowa Energy showing they have the pieces to win

During their 108-104 loss to the Westchester Knicks on Saturday night, the Iowa Energy showed they have a team that can compete. Although the loss to 7-12 Westchester is not something to look forward to, it did bring out the true stars of the team.

Energy showing they have the pieces to win

Damien Wilkins tallied a team high 27 points as four other teammates touted along in double digits. Yet, Wilkins also leads the league in free throw percentage.

The lone other stat an Iowa player leads the league in happens to be rebounding. Jarrid Famous has gathered an impressive 18.3 boards per game and has helped Pierre Henderson-Niles in being the team’s big men.

When talking about this team, they are often discussed in terms of shooting. Diante Garrett and Kalin Lucas both average in double digit scoring and of course have help from Wilkins. Lucas has nights where he could throw a dart over three pool tables and around people’s heads that ends up making a bull’s eye.

The Electrifying Preview – Iowa Energy @ Grand Rapids Drive
(Wed. 7:00pm ET live on Youtube)

This Wednesday, the Energy have a chance to get a big win in division play when they take on the Grand Rapids Drive on the road. Grand Rapids (10-7) leads the League’s Central Division and stand three games in front of Iowa (6-9.)

The Drive and Energy have met twice already this season, with the Drive 102-97 and 100-95, both being just five point losses for Iowa.

Grand Rapids features a defense that defends the three pointer well, which could spell havoc for the Energy’s long range attack.
