Iowa State Reunion Set for Friday Night at Wells Fargo

When the Maine Red Claws come to town the day after Christmas to face the Iowa Energy, former Iowa State guard Chris Babb will return to Iowa. There is sure to be a great crowd coming to Wells Fargo Arena this week to witness this reunion.

Wells Fargo saw an above average attendance game on December 13th when another former Cyclone, Bubu Palo, and the Texas Legends traveled to Iowa.

This reunion, of course, resides between Babb and Energy guard, Diante Garrett. Garrett mentored Babb during his first year when he came to Iowa State after transferring from Penn State.

Both players averaged double digits in points while at Iowa State, and both maintain that in the D-League. Garrett averages 16.2 while Babb is at 15.8 points per game.

*Update* The Energy have acquired another former Cyclone in Chris Allen, who will be in action against Maine.

Iowa (5-7, just 1.5 games out of the division lead) will face the league leading Red Claws, trying to add a loss to an 11-2 record.

Although Iowa has struggled in their last few games, the Energy have shown a strong ability to come back this season. This includes being down by 25 to the Philadelphia 87ers and making a comeback to win at the buzzer.

Tuesday, the team suffered a loss by just three points to Rio Grande Valley, and could use a win to boost confidence after a four game losing streak.

Fans, as always, can catch the game live on YouTube – look for the link on the official twitter of the Energy: @iowaenergy – around half an hour before game time. Tip off is at 8:00pm ET.
