Athleticism: C+

Former point guard for the Red Hawks basketball team. Has average speed and might not be able to handle the DeSean Jacksons of the world. Is a fluid athlete but is not explosive changing directions or recovering when beat deep.

Coverage: D

Biggest point of weakest. Is better in zone than man coverage at this point. Doesn’t quite have the long speed to hang vertically with quicker receivers and has a tendency to grab when he gets beat. Has a loose backpedal and will be caught flat footed at times. Closes strong on the football when he identifies the throw.

Physicality: C-

Shows the ability to get physical, but does not do so on an every down basis. Raw in press coverage, but will play some bump and run. Needs to be more invested in getting in versus the run a consistent basis. Is a better wrap tackler than most at this point. Does not hit with pop or shed blocks easily, but makes the tackle when he is free.

Ball Skills: A

Excellent production on the football in one year. Sure-handed and can make a play on tipped passes and undercut receivers. Very good leaping ability and body control. Has excellent vision with the football in his hands after the interception and has some kick return potential.

Instincts: D+

Only one year of college football experience, but was a starter. Shows very good instincts for such an inexperienced player, and improved throughout the season. Looks lost at times, especially on special teams, but more often than not is in position to make the play.

Red Flags: Raw Talant, Level of Competition, Experience

Bottom Line: Quinten Rollins has a long way to go before he can be trusted play in an NFL game without getting burned, but he has the tools to develop. Rollins has a chance to be a mid-round pick and could become a starter by year three. Best fit is in a zone defense where he won’t be left on an island to fend for himself.

Comparison: Demetri Goodson

Grade: 7.6 (5th Round)
