2014 Week 15 CFB Game Picks

It’s here. Championship Week in college football has arrived. It’s a limited slate of games this weekend, but most of them have big national implications. Each of the Big 5 Conference championships is up for grabs this weekend, and the Heisman candidates will be making their closing arguments as well.

Last Week:

6-4

Season:

2014 Week 15 CFB Game Picks

Arizona vs. Oregon (Friday, December 5th, 9:00 p.m., FOX)

Nice revenge opportunity for the Quack Attack in Santa Clara, CA against the only team to outscore them in a game this season. The key difference in this matchup is that the Ducks are healthy on Marcus Mariota’s blind side at left tackle. Look for MM to present his closing argument for the 2014 Heisman Trophy with panache.

Pick: Oregon 52, Arizona 33

Alabama vs. Missouri (Saturday, December 6th, 4:00 p.m., CBS)

The 2014 Missouri Tigers might be the most maligned 10-2 team in major college football history. Why? Mizzou lost to a bad Indiana team in its non-conference preseason. At home. Not good. Still, kudos to them for winning the SEC East. Enjoy the Citrus bowl, Tigers.

Pick: Alabama 45, Missouri 21

Kansas State @ Baylor (Saturday, December 6th, 7:45 p.m., ESPN)

The winner of this game wins the Big XII outright, if Iowa State can beat TCU. Okay, that won’t happen, so this game is for a share of the title. If Baylor wins Saturday, they can claim the head-to-head victory over TCU as its claim to the “One True Champion” title. Conversely, KState can earn a trip to a Big 6 Bowl, but probably would send TCU into the playoff. With motivation aplenty for each time, it’ll come down to execution. On this stage, I trust Bill Snyder more than I trust Art Briles. Here’s your Championship Week upset special.

Pick: Kansas State 33, Baylor 30

Florida State vs. Georgia Tech (Saturday, December 6th, 8:00 p.m., ABC)

Boy do the ‘Noles need to be careful here. Week-by-week, they’ve done enough to maintain that incredibly impressive 27 28-game win streak, but Jameis Winston and company have tested fate time and again. As a result, FSU has fallen to #4 in the Committee’s rankings, which is enough to get them into the playoffs. Expect them to do just enough to win #28 29 straight and earn the chance to defend last season’s title.

Pick: Florida State 27, Georgia Tech 21

Wisconsin vs. Ohio State (Saturday, December 6th, 8:17 p.m., FOX)

The Buckeyes have been rolling since that early season home loss to Virginia Tech, which they have been trying to overcome in the eyes of the CFP Committee ever since. As soon as they start to do so, they lose rising star QB J.T. Barrett to a broken ankle in the 3rd quarter of the game against Michigan. Enter former 3rd stringer Cardale Jones, who has been nothing but clear about why he came to tOSU. He’s neither Braxton Miller nor Barrett, but I’m betting on the Buckeye defense to have a plan to slow Melvin Gordon III, and for Jones to “play” just well enough to earn the poisonous nuts the win.

Pick: Ohio State 28, Wisconsin 24
