Canucks Forward Linden Vey, Returning to Kings Country

The Los Angeles Kings are at the Stapes tonight to take on the Vancouver Canucks, and old friend Linden Vey will be in the lineup against the team that developed him in the American Hockey League.

Vey, a Wakaw, SK Canada native was picked by the Kings back in 2009 in the fourth round (96th overall) and had a bright start with the organization, and learned what it was like to develop the proper way to the National Hockey League.

The 5’-11” Vey was NHL ready, but the Kings had just won the Stanley Cup and were already loaded with talent. Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson were in the NHL and ahead of Vey on the depth chart and there just wasn’t a spot for him. With the Kings AHL affiliate in Manchester, New Hampshire, Vey was a force in the league with his offensively skilled vision, and a forward that can create offense quickly with his speed and natural instinct to force a way to the shooting areas. Vey is extremely good playing the role of set-up man off the “half-boards” on the powerplay.  He was also a forward who played in all situations in the AHL

In 191 games with the Manchester Monarchs, Vey had some vey good stats posting 55 goals, and 103 assists in his time in “ManchVegas”, but the bottle neck of talent forced the Kings to trade him to the Vancouver Canucks on June 28, 2014 during the 2014 NHL draft in the second round for the 50th pick (Roland McKweon).

This season with the Canucks, Vey has played very well in the first part of this season. He’s found a full time spot in the NHL, playing in 14 games for the Canucks, and putting up four goals and three assists for seven points in that time.  Vey has found a way to translate his offensive game to the NHL level.
