LWOS No. 1 Oregon Seeks 100th Straight Sell Out

LWOS No. 1 Oregon Seeks 100th Straight Sell Out

The dynasty that is the Oregon Ducks has seen a lot of success recently, passing multiple milestones along the way. Now the Ducks, but mostly their fans, have a chance to do what only a handful of teams have accomplished in College Football: earn a 100th straight sellout.

This program seems to be joining the likes of Nebraska and Notre Dame in terms of consecutive official sellouts. (Nebraska leads the nation with a streak of more than 300 consecutive sold out games).

However, there’s a bigger storyline to this game than the excitement that comes with the sellout streak. Both teams are 4-0 coming into the game and each had a nail biter in their conference opener.

Oregon is coming off a near upset at the hands Washington State, where it was aided by a controversial no-call on a defended pass late in the 4th quarter.

Arizona, meanwhile, faced Cal in week 5 and fell behind 28-6 going into halftime. The Cats battled back with a five touchdown 4th Quarter to win the game 49-45.

It’d be an understatement to say that this game has a chance to come down to the wire. Especially with the passing attacks that we’ll see.

Oregon boasts a sure-to-be Heisman front runner in QB Marcus Mariota, who has thrown for 1,135 yards this season. His foe across the field, Anu Solomon, outdoes him, throwing for 1,454 yards. Each quarterback has 13 touchdowns on the young season.

In “off the field” news, Oregon unveiled the black/pink uniforms that they will wear against Arizona, with proceeds going to Breast Cancer patients. It is also a tradition at Oregon to auction the jerseys in some fashion, to provide further financial support to breast cancer sufferers.

All this comes together in one game, played on a Thursday Night, in front of the entire nation.
