Aldon Smith Pleads No Contest to Weapons Charges, DUI

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith has pleaded no contest to three felony charges related to a 2012 incident during a house party at his San Jose, California mansion. Smith also pleaded no contest to 3 misdemeanor DUI charges related to a September 2013 arrest.

There will also likely be a suspenion coming for Aldon Smith from the NFL head office. Smith violated the league’s substance-abuse policy with the DUI. The no contest plea to the weapons-related charges also constitutes a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy and Roger Goodell has been known to be strict on these types of offences.

Aldon Smith missed a total of five games in 2013 after entering rehab following his Sept. 20 DUI arrest.

Smith could still face more charges following an April arrest at LAX airport.
