Falcons Sign Devin Hester, Seahawks sign Jared Allen

The Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks made big moves on Thursday. The Falcons picked up return man extraordinaire/part-time wide receiver Devin Hester, agreeing to a three-year deal with the former Chicago Bear. Meanwhile the Seahawks signed Jared Allen, the defensive end formerly of the Minnesota Vikings.

The 31-year-old Hester is arguably the greatest return man in NFL history. He has an NFL-record 18 career kick and punt returns for touchdowns. Hester also has one fumble return touchdown to tie career for the lead in touchdown returns of any type in NFL history. Hester scored his 19 return touchdowns in just 123 games, while Sanders scored 19 over 188 career games. He had one punt return touchdown last season.

Hester has also added 14 receiving touchdowns in his NFL career.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks grabbed pass rusher Jarred Allen, agreeing on a contract with him that should be signed later on Thursday. The soon to be 32-year-old has 128.5 career sacks in 11 NFL seasons. He should provide some pass rush for the Seattle line and replace Chris Clemons who was cut for salary cap reasons. Allen had 11.5 sacks last season for the Minnesota Vikings.
