Fantasy Basketball Report: Top Waiver Wire Adds for Week 20

Whether your fantasy basketball team has already punched a ticket into your league’s postseason, or is in desperate need of one final push to make it in, there is still room to improve your team as we enter arguably the most important week of the fantasy season. With most fantasy baskeball leagues set to begin the playoffs next week, your team’s performance this week can literally make or break your season, meaning that every roster decision that you make is amplified all the more. Which under-the-radar players are primed to but up big numbers this week? Who’s upcoming schedule strength will allow for more opportunity? These questions can be answered through the evaluation of our top waiver wire adds for week 20.

1. Khris Middleton, SF, Milwaukee Bucks

A second round draft pick out of Texas A&M two years ago, Khris Middleton became a Milwaukee Buck this past off-season in the same trade that sent Brandon Jennings to Detroit. Though the woeful Bucks gave him substantial playing time early in the season, Middleton has not produced at a fantasy relevant level until recently, having averaged 14.9 points per game since February 1. His improved play, combined with the fact that the Bucks are scheduled to play five games this week, make him an excellent fantasy option this week.

2. Amar’e Stoudemire, PF/C, New York Knicks

Remember Amar’e Stoudemire, the often injured and now irrelevant center whom was once considered an “elite” player? Well, don’t look now, but if is last five games mean anything, he could be on the verge of a comeback. Over that span, he has averaged 16.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game while also shooting a remarkable 59.6 percent from the field. While Stoudemire may not ever return to his pre-injury form, he is definetely worth an add if you play in a 10 or more team league.

3. Alec Burks, SG/PG, Utah Jazz

In his third NBA season, Alec Burks has posted an impressive stat line of 13.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game, but is somehow still available in many fantasy leagues. Even more, over his last 13 games, Burks has averaged 17.4 points while shooting 48.3 percent from the field. If he happens to have been overlooked in your league, he is a worthy waiver-wire pickup.

4. Tony Wroten, PG/SG, Philadelphia 76ers

Tony Wroten, who seems to finally be comfortable in his sixth-man role, is averaging 17.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.7 steals per game over the last two weeks, while shooting an extraordinary 49.4 percent from the field. Aside from points, however, you won’t see much more production, in terms of fantasy, out of him. Wroten would be an excellent addition to any points-needy squad, especially if you happen to play in a 12 or 14 team league.
