Sleepless in Seattle: Bucs Underdogs or Underwater?

This Sunday the 0-7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers make the dreaded trip up to Seattle to face the 7-1 Seahawks.

This will be the 12th meeting between the two teams, (4-7) in the Seahawks favor. The interesting thing is the Buccaneers have won the last three of these meetings. Could they make it four in a row? I doubt it, Last time Seahawks lost at home was Week 16 of the 2011 season against San Francisco. The last time the Bucs won an away game was Week 17 of the 2012 season.

Do you see my point, the Seahawks don’t lose at home and the Bucs don’t win, EVER.

So the question becomes, can the Bucs come into CenturyLink Field and beat what is arguably the best defense in the league? Can the rookie QB Mike Glennon overcome the 12 man? No he cant.

This is not a Cinderella story and the Bucs are in for a nightmare game. Coach Schiano and his staff have managed to run a team into the ground faster than anyone thought was possible. Before Schiano the Bucs were just bad, with Schiano they have become the laughing stock of the league.

I wonder how Coach Schiano will sleep the night before the Seattle game. Will he toss and turn thinking about Richard Sherman, Brandon Browner and the legion of boom? Will he think about Russell Wilson, or Marshawn Lynch? Is Coach Schiano thinking he can win? If so, is he being delusional?

I wonder if he’s hearing footsteps yet? He must know this is his last year. Fans of Tampa are calling for his job, a Tampa radio station has bought 19 “Fire Schiano” billboards. The city is done with him, the fans are done with him. It doesn’t matter if they win, Greg Schiano is done as a head coach in the NFL. The team has hit an iceberg and Schiano is the caption who let it happen. Soon the team will, if it isn’t already, be underwater. Now its time to fill the lifeboats for next season.

“The ‘Fire Schiano’ billboard is simply a reflection of the Tampa Bay community’s opinion of the Buccaneers’ Head Coach,” “Our listeners have voiced their opinion that they are tired of a team, that on paper, should have a winning record. This billboard isn’t a message to the Buccaneers as much as it is a message to our listeners that we are right there with them.” (Michael Sharkey, Program Director of 102.5 The Bone WHPT, in a statement released to ProFootballTalk.)

So what do the Bucs need to do?

After losing in Seattle, the Glazers need to fire Schiano that night. Next step don’t look for a new coach, don’t try and save the season. Find an interim head coach, someone experienced to evaluate the talent and start filling those lifeboats. During the off season the Glazers need to take their time, finding a real head coach and real coordinators. This is a talented team much like the Kansas City Chiefs of last year.

At the end of the day Schiano is done in Tampa, the players need to step up and start playing for each other. Win for themselves, each other and the fans. Do it in spite of their coach. I wish I could say Tampa is an underdog this Sunday, but I can’t and they’re not. The team is underwater and the Glazers won’t releases the lifeboats, soon it might be too late.

My predictions, Bucs lose and they lose big. Hopefully this loss will be enough for the Glazers to make the call. #FireSchiano So the light can once again shine in Tampa, and the black cloud that is the Schiano era can come to an end. I hope Schiano knows he’s been nothing but a nightmare to Bucs fans. #ItsABucsLife
