Top 10 Power Forwards In The Game Today

Many times when people ask you to name the top 10 Power Forwards today, it’s hard to come up with an answer. You usually get to Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Love, Tim Duncan…who’s next? More Power Forwards are of great impact, just give them time. As we delve further into the NBA’s top Power Forwards, keep in mind that these guys are very important to the game, as they can also play the position of Center.

#1 – The PF that usually comes to mind is, Kevin Love. Love is quite injury-proned but nonetheless, when healthy, he is by far the best Power Forward in the NBA today. It’s clear that Love definitely should transfer to another team or Minnesota should bring some major help if he, they, are to win a ring.

#2 – The next person to come to mind, 4-time NBA champion, Tim Duncan. As we all remember, Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs went to a Game 7 in the Finals this past year, Duncan being a huge factor. Tim Duncan can do anything needed out there on the court and that is what makes him such a dominant Power Forward.

#3 – Next up, Kevin Garnett. Kevin Garnett’s main reason for being so highly rated, is he can play very well at Power Forward and Center, and plays a healthy aggressiveness when it comes to basketball. Garnett is a very physical player and some games have been lost because of it, but some of them have also been won, and that is why his physical play matters.

#4 – The next young talent, Blake Griffin, averaging 10 rebounds per game, is the Clippers best post player. Griffin is definitely one of the best big men in the game today because of his size and his ability to dominate in the paint. Griffin is young and with the roster he has now, it won’t be surprising if they are able to pull off a title this year.

#5 – It seems to be Dirk Nowitzki. Nowitzki can do absolutely anything on the floor which makes him so great. He can shoot 3’s which is an ability most Power Forwards don’t have, and he dominates the post along with the 3 shooting in addition to being able to also shoot anywhere else on the court. Nowitzki is also able to rebound the ball very well on both ends of the court which makes him not just one of the best in the NBA today, but one of the best of all time.

#6 – We will go with Memphis Grizzlies Power Forward, Zach Randolph. Randolph is young and hungry and shows that in his play of the game. Randolph is recognized for his ability to dominate the post and stop players from driving in with his gigantic body and strength. Once Zach Randolph steps on that court, you know exactly what you’re getting.

#7 – At seventh is the repeat champion for the Miami Heat, Chris Bosh. Bosh’s ability to play Center and Power Forward is absolutely outstanding. Some would not consider him superstar talent but as you explore into his stats, you’ll find different. Being with the Heat organization has definitely stepped Bosh’s game up tremendously.

#8 – Our eighth PF is the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Power Forward, Serge Ibaka. Ibaka as we know has been given the nickname, “IBLAKA” for his ability to block any shot coming his way. Ibaka is known as one of the best rebounders in the game today. Ibaka is a very strong factor for the Thunder and playing alongside Small Forward, Kevin Durant, should take them very far this year.

#9 – Number 9 brings us to Pau Gasol, one of the best Power Forwards to ever play the game. The reason Gasol is rated so low is because he didn’t do much in the past season but the reason he is rated, with D12 gone, he should be back to the Pau Gasol he once was. Gasol has always been a dominant performer all over the court, being able to do anything and this upcoming year, big things are expected from him.

#10 – Rounding out our list is David Lee of the Golden State Warriors. Lee was recently injured in this past postseason but nonetheless, helped them get to this past postseason. Lee is still young and has far to go but he is without a doubt, climbing his way up the ladder to be an extremely great Power Forward.

This list of Power Forwards are very great players that are usually always overlooked so hopefully, next time someone asks you 10 great Power Forwards, you’ll be able to name them!
