Dreaming About Ozil

I can’t be alone on this; for the fourth night running I awake sweating profusely from a dream and nightmare, going back and forth as to which it is.  All I know is that I wake grinning ear to ear with Mesut Ozil playing in Theo Walcott or Olivier Giroud or any of other AFC player and driving it home.  Am I mad?  Is it normal for an adult male to be this obsessed? Or rather, for any human being?

Don’t answer that.

Amazingly a single footballer has stormed London like a tornado with such a direction-changing effect on a football club.  Certainly Mr. Ozil is that storm, and by doing so has awakened Gooners from their summer boredom, reenergizing the masses across the globe.

How many of you have already played Saturday’s game in your head?  Most of you have already, I’m sure.  I bloody well have on numerous occasions and I bet 99% end with Ozil playing a part in the winning goal.  This is football, the game with a story and the fairytale ending, isn’t it?

How much would you give to see Arsenal and their new boy rip Sunderland and big mouth Paulo Di Canio apart like a ragdoll with Ozil having a debut of epic proportions – passes, tricks, turns and the one-touch stuff only the crème de la crème can even fathom to try to execute.

You can probably tell by now I am a little excited about this coming Saturday, and I really feel it’s going to be one of those occasions when you remember where you were the day Ozil made his Arsenal debut.   He is a special talent indeed, and I for one will be sitting in my New York apartment on a worn out sofa not moving a muscle whilst wearing my AFC shirt with pride and smiling like a kid at Christmas.  I am so looking forward to this, not just to see the Santi Cazorla- Jack Wilshere – Mesut Ozil triangles, but the squares, hexagons and what ever other shapes you can dream of.

I believe Mesut is going to change the way we play, not so dissimilar to a certain Sir Dennis of Bergkamp did all those years ago.  Yes, I said it –  I rate this kid that highly, and I’m not alone.  So too does the great Ronaldo who was left despondent by Real Madrid’s agreeing to the sale of the German playmaker.

So, right out of the Ozil Wonderland and back to reality.  Even the best need to time to gel into a new team and a new country with a different culture.  But as always, the cream rises to the top.  Mr Ozil is certainly that.

Enjoy the new Arsenal generation, and may it be trophy laden.

Till next time, Up The Gunners!
