Reports: Von Miller Appealing 4 Game Suspension

Reports have surfaced that the NFL is trying to suspend Denver Broncos LB Von Miller for four games for violating the leagues’ drug policy.  However Miller is appealing the suspension.  The NFL is refusing to publically comment on the reports, as they are unable to under the rules of the CBA.  However this hasn’t stopped Miller and the NFLPA from publically commenting on the process.

“Seeing reports abt 4 game susp,” Miller wrote on his twitter. “I know I did nothing wrong. I’m sure this’ll be resolved fairly. Disapp. Broncos have 2 open camp like this.”

NFLPA spokesman George Atallah has said via Twitter that Miller’s potential suspension does not arise under the steroids policy.

Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth said the team would refuse to comment publically on any possible penalty or on the appeals process.

Earlier today, Mike Klis of the Denver Post reported that Miller had previously tested positive in 2011 for amphetamines (prohibited under the steroids policy) and for marijuana (prohibited under the substance-abuse policy).  If Miller is suspended under the substance abuse policy, it would indicate that he has had at least 3 positive tests for substances covered under such policy.

It is the latest in a series of distractions for the Broncos as training camp opens.  Last week it was revealed that two Broncos executives were being suspended by the team after being charged in separate DUI incidents.

Miller, 24, had 18.5 sacks last season for the Broncos.  In 2011 he was named the AP defensive rookie of the year after being drafted 2nd overall by the Broncos.
