Antonio Morrison racks up 2nd Arrest, Suspended by Gators

The Florida Gators have suspended Antonio Morrison from the football program indefinitely.  Head coach Will Muschamp has stated that Morrison, who was expected to start for the Gators at outside linebacker, will miss at minimum the first two games of the 2013 college football season and possibly longer.  The suspension comes on the heels of Morrison’s second arrest of the off-season.

Morrison was arrested early Sunday morning.  He was officially charged with interfering with police by harassing a police animal.

According to Gainesville police, they were called to an after hours club due to a disturbance early Sunday morning.  Per the official police report, Officer William A. Arnold had a police canine named ‘Bear’ in the car and Morrison walked up to the vehicle and began to bark at the dog.  When Morrison was asked to leave the dog alone, he did not.  At this point the police asked Morrison to move to the front of the vehicle where they handcuffed him and arrested him.  He also resisted arrest at that point.

The arrest comes less than one month after Morrison was charged with first degree battery for assaulting a bouncer at another Gainesville drinking establishment.  Morrison was reported to have asked the bouncer, “Don’t you know who I am?”  before the assault.  He was given deferred prosecution on the charge, less than two weeks ago.  This latest arrest may complicate the legal issues surrounding the virtual slap on the wrist he received for the first arrest.

“I’m extremely disappointed in Antonio Morrison’s decision making,” Muschamp said in the statement.

The Gators first two games are against Toledo and Miami.  Their third game is the opening of SEC play against Tennessee in the Swamp..
