Negredo and Jovetic Added to Man City. What's Next?

With Alvaro Negredo completing his move to Manchester City today, and Stevan Jovetic having a medical and expected to be announced as a Manchester City player tonight, it makes me wonder, “Are City going to add some depth to the squad defensively?”

Adding defensively is crucial in my opinion! The current back four of Pablo Zabaleta, Vincent Kompany, Matija Natastic and Gael Clichy is a very solid back four, but has shown some weaknesses as proven last season. Set pieces were a massive problem last season with players not man-marking and tracking the opposing players, which lead to dropping points such as in the Champions League match against Ajax with Yaya Toure not staying with his man. Also last season using our full backs as wingers, which left space for counter attacks shown against Southampton at home.

Adding defensive back-ups are crucial as shown when Clichy picked up a injury.  It forces Aleksandar Kolorov to start as he has shown he’s not up to it. He has no pace and is quite simply not a hard enough tackler! Also, when Kompany gets injured we lose the heart off our defence.  We need a natural born leader for back-up to fill in for Kompany and be the heart off our defence – Real Madrid defender Pepe fits perfectly for that role!

Now we’ve added plenty off power up front.  Manchester City have been heavily linked with Real Madrid defender Pepe, and in my opinion he wouldn’t be a bad addition to the squad.  And there is the idea that he would be a good replacement for Kolo Toure, who left for Liverpool.

I think we should also start to look for a new back-up left back, as Kolorov once again proved how useless and not up to the level of our squad!  Man City have been linked with promising young Southampton left back Luke Shaw, but a transfer is unlikely as the young left back recently committed himself to the club by signing a new contract.

So, I guess what I’m saying is expect more transfers!
