Game 3 Giveaway: Sens are United in Bed, What?

Congratulations go out once again to the Ottawa Senators marketing department ahead of Game 3 of their Stanley Cup Playoff Series with the Montreal Canadiens. Let’s remember that this is the group that brought us the infamous “Spartan Speech” back in the 2008 playoffs.

While they haven’t topped that epic disaster, the Senators have come up with their own special screw-up for the 2013 playoffs. At the top of this article is a picture of the towel that the Senators are giving away in 2013.

Clearly the towel is supposed to say “United in Red” with a picture of long time Sens captain and fan favorite, Daniel Alfredsson underneath, and that would be cool and all, except for the fact that the positioning of Alfredsson closes the R and changes the title to United in Bed. It’s maybe just a hunch, but I don’t think this is what the Sens were going for with this giveaway.

I guess they want fans to Swing the Towel with Alfie.  A whole crowd of towel-swingers, “united in bed”.  Things could get interesting.  Of course Ottawa’s a government town, and it was Pierre Trudeau who said that the Government had no place in the bedrooms of the nation, but maybe things are different when cheering on the local hockey team.

We want to keep this all tongue in cheek (and not anywhere else, don’t get dirty on us now).

Of course it could be worse, they could’ve brought back the Spartan.
