Inter Milan clinch Shaqiri signing

Serie A giants Inter Milan continue to remain highly active this January transfer window, signing Swiss star Xherdan Shaqiri. Bayern Munich confirmed the news on their official twitter account.

Shaqiri, 23, joins from German champions Bayern Munich on an initial loan, which will be made permanent in the summer. The former Basel youngster attracted worldwide attention, eventually signing for Bayern. However, he failed to make an impact and featured mostly as a substitute or reserve player.

With promising performances for Switzerland in Brazil this summer, he garnered interest from the likes of Liverpool, Juventus, and even Stoke City. Liverpool seemed to have captured the player in the summer after reportedly agreeing terms with the player, but Bayern Munich elected to keep Shaqiri in the fold this summer. Five months later, they seem to have changed their minds and now have deemed him expendable. Shaqiri leaves Bayern Munich after featuring in 52 games, scoring 11 goals for the club.

The Swiss international boasts a record of 15 goals in 41 matches for his side, playing mainly as a winger.

Inter Milan adds Shaqiri, after already capturing the loan signing of Lukas Podolski from Arsenal greatly strengthening their attack for the second half of the Serie A campaign.
