College Football Picks Week 4

San Diego State @ #22 Michigan: Brady Hoke’s old team vs. Brady Hoke’s new team. Out with the old, in with the new; I’ve got Michigan.

North Carolina @ #25 Georgia Tech: North Carolina is still in some degree of disarray after a season of NCAA violations and a midsummer coaching change. I’m taking the Ramblin’ Wreck From Georgia Tech.

Notre Dame @ Pitt: Neither team is ranked, but I figured I’d get back in the good graces of B. Kerr and take an opportunity to pick his Irish.

Portland State @ #23 TCU: At least Portland State will be taking home a nice big check.

#14 Arkansas @ #3 Alabama: Will definitely be watching this one. ‘Bama hasn’t really been tested yet; then again, neither have the Hogs. Arkansas, in a close one.

South Dakota @ #6 Wisconsin: Can Big Ten conference play start already, please? I’m picking the Badgers, obviously.

#7 Oklahoma State @ #8 Texas A&M: Another good game to watch. Too bad it’s at the same time as Arkansas-Alabama. It’ll be close, but I’m taking A&M.

#11 Florida State @ #21 Clemson: Clemson looked good beating Auburn last week, but the ‘Noles looked really good making a game of it with Oklahoma. Their defense will be the difference, Florida State wins it.

#13 Virginia Tech @ Marshall: Marshall tends to put out scrappy teams that stay in games they shouldn’t be in, but the Hokies will eventually prove too much for them.

Western Michigan @ #24 Illinois: Big Ten. Conference games. PLEASE. Western Michigan is far from a bad team, but they won’t be able to hang with the Illini any more than they could with Michigan.

Vanderbilt @ #12 South Carolina: Sports Illustrated ran a really nice story about Vanderbilt last week. I find myself pulling for them, but I don’t think that will be enough to get them past Marcus Lattimore and the Gamecocks.

#15 Florida @ Kentucky: Haven’t caught the Gators yet this year, planning to watch the first hour of this one before switching to LSU-West Virginia. Unless Kentucky has changed radically from the last couple of seasons, Florida should handle them easily.

Rice @ #17 Baylor: Baylor’s success is a great story, and it should continue this weekend.

UTEP @ #18 South Florida: The Bulls have looked really good so far. I think they’ve got a chance to win the Big East. They’ll be undefeated for at least another week.

#9 Nebraska @ Wyoming: Big Ten, you’re killing me. Just to make it official, I’m taking the Huskers.

Missouri @ #1 Oklahoma: I can’t see anyone except maybe LSU or Alabama taking down the Sooners at this point.

Tulsa @ #4 Boise State: The boys in blue prevail on the Smurf Turf.

#10 Oregon @ Arizona: Arizona has a decent offense, but the Ducks are too strong top to bottom. Oregon will continue to make pollsters forget their opener against LSU.

#23 USC @ Arizona State: ASU stud linebacker Vontaze Burfict will harrass the USC offense, but I don’t think ASU has to offense to get the W.

#2 LSU @ #16 West Virginia: I don’t know if any college quarterback can pass the ball successfully against that LSU secondary. Then again, no one has had much success running against them either. It’ll be their closest game of the season to date, but the Tigers will win.
